Geology is a science that involves the study of the earth's makeup and the earth's history. You can earn an Associate in Science degree with an emphasis in geology, then transfer to a four-year institution to continue with your geology studies.
Delta College geology offerings include field courses in and around the Upper and Lower Peninsulas, focusing on Michigan geology and geography, as well as destinations throughout North America.

Study the composition, structure and other physical aspects of the Earth. You may use geological, physics and mathematics knowledge in the exploration for oil, gas, minerals or underground water, as well as in in waste disposal, land reclamation or other environmental problems. Study the Earth's internal composition, atmospheres, oceans and its magnetic, electrical and gravitational forces. Includes mineralogists, crystallographers, paleontologists, stratigraphers, geodesists and seismologists.

Research the distribution, circulation and physical properties of underground and surface waters. Study the form and intensity of precipitation, its rate of infiltration into the soil, movement through the earth and its return to the ocean and atmosphere.
