We want you to reach your dreams. We provide educational planning and counseling through the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), a centralized hub of support for eligible individuals who are interested in GED® testing or taking college classes.

What is the Educational Opportunity Center?
We offer services to help you along the way including educational planning, career exploration, financial aid advising, assistance with scholarship searches and college preparation workshops throughout the year. Although the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is housed at Delta, we are here to help anyone that needs assistance with the next step in their education, regardless of the school they are attending.
Services Offered
We can help you start the process of meeting your educational goals.
- Create an educational development plan.
- Prepare for your GED® or college placement testing.
- Explore career information, assessment and advising.
- Search for scholarships and complete the financial aid application.
- Complete the admissions process for college classes.
- Find services to other community service agencies.
Career exploration
We will assist you in identifying or redefining your career goals. Advising is based on your career interests, academic skills and personal values. Job and earnings outlook information may also be discussed.
Financial aid and scholarship advising
Learn about the financial aid process and get help completing financial aid, scholarship, work study and loan applications.
Apply Early! The FAFSA application is available every October for the following school year.
Planning workshops
In addition to the Educational Opportunity Center workshops, Delta hosts educational planning workshops throughout the year. See the Delta College events calendar for the workshop schedule. Workshop topics include computer program basics, career advising, financial literacy, scholarship searches, how to pick a major and more.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for EOC services, you must be:
- A resident of Bay, Midland or Saginaw county.
- 19 years of age or older. High school seniors that are 17-18 years old and currently participate in alternative educational programs or dropped out of their local high school.
- A child whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university.
- Considered low-income according to federal guidelines.
- Included in a group that is considered underrepresented in higher education including homeless, disabled, foster youth, first generation, limited English proficient, aging out of foster care system or other disconnected students.
- A veteran – regardless of residency location.
