Volunteering
There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities you can take advantage of as a student. Through community service and volunteer work, you'll make a real impact while gaining real-word experience and practicing skills like leadership, time management and problem solving.
An added plus? Showing interest and involvement in your community looks great on a resume.
How to get involved
Become a mentor
Delta's Peer Mentor program aims to help first-year, transfer and first-generation college students as they adjust to life at Delta. The program pairs an experienced student (mentor) with a mentee. Mentors should have at least 12 credit hours completed at Delta, have a 2.5 GPA and enrolled in at least one credit hour at Delta. Email engage@delta.edu to sign up.
Go on an Alternative Breaks trip
Delta's Alternative Breaks program provides opportunities for students to travel, explore and volunteer in a community across the U.S. Past spring break trips include volunteering in Florida at an animal rehabilitation center, helping with hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina and Georgia, and learning about urban farming in Chicago. Trips have taken place every year since 2009.
