Should I register for fall classes?

Yes, now's the time to register.

With the fall semester at Delta College set to begin August 29, new and current students are encouraged to enroll now and register for classes.

Delta College will pursue a blend of face-to-face and online instruction this fall. We are working now to make needed changes within the scheduling system, indicating the planned delivery method or location for each course.  This will allow us to list the appropriate details on student billing statements and fall class schedules.  Regardless of teaching method, faculty members will continue to deliver inspiring, engaging and thought-provoking courses whether they are delivered in person or online.

If you are already enrolled at Delta, but need help getting scheduled for fall, contact Registration, Counseling, Academic Advising or Financial Aid. They are ready to answer your questions and help you get started.

For more information, contact the Admissions office at admissions@delta.edu or 989-686-9093.

What is the Futures for Frontliners and how can I access funding to attend Delta College?

On April 30, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced a program she was proposing called "Futures for Frontliners.” Her program idea would be modeled on the G.I. Bill after World War II where the federal government covered the cost of tuition for military veterans to attend college or vocational school.

The program will require legislative approval and it is not immediately clear where the funding for the program would come from, especially since Michigan could be facing a deficit of $3 billion in the current year. There has been no estimate created of what the program would cost.

Governor Whitmer hopes the following people would be eligible at some point in the future: those working in hospitals, health care, urgent cares, nursing homes, testing/contact tracing, grocery store workers, curbside/home delivery workers, agricultural processing, police officers, fire fighters, child care workers who have stayed on the job to watch the children of those in the essential critical infrastructure workforce, people manufacturing PPE, sanitation workers and those delivering unspecified supplies.

Although Delta College believes this is a wonderful and appropriate way to show our appreciation for essential workers’ service and bravery, we realize the need to build the details, gain approval from the Michigan legislature and provide a funding source before any action can be taken to offer this benefit.

Are Delta College buildings closed while classes are offered online?

Delta College has closed its main campus and centers and will remain closed until further notice. This includes its pool and fitness facility, all events, LLIC and all other public services. We will continually monitor and evaluate conditions for reopening based on further recommendations from federal, state and local officials.

What is going to happen to my membership to the Fitness & Recreation Center?

Delta College's Fitness & Recreation Center has been closed since Monday, March 16, 2020, in response to an Executive Order from Governor Whitmer, in order to help slow the spread of the pandemic in our region.

We understand that closing our facility has affected many of our dedicated members. Delta College will automatically extend your membership for the number of days the facility is closed under this order and until the Fitness & Recreation Center is able to reopen; there’s nothing you need to do. The health and safety of our members is of the utmost importance. Be assured that prior to reopening the facility will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

If you have any questions or concerns upon re-opening, please contact or Fitness & Recreation Center directly at 989-686-9026 or email fitness@delta.edu

What is the status of campus events and travel trips?

All events as well as travel and trips have been canceled until further notice.

How will all facilities be cleaned and sanitized?

Once Delta College reopens its buildings to either staff or the general public, this will be a priority issue for our team. The Facilities Management staff has a plan to clean and sanitize open areas across campus. They will also put increased focus on high-touch point maintenance, which includes push plates, door handles, partition latches, hand rails, manual faucets and fixture handles and kitchenette sinks. This protocol is frequently used in medical and hospital environments.

What is Delta doing to respond to the coronavirus situation?

Delta College has activated its Emergency Management committee to monitor the rapidly evolving situation and to adjust operations accordingly. We are following guidance from the CDC, and our local and state health departments. We will continue to respond swiftly to information as it becomes available. Stay up to date by visiting this webpage frequently.

What if I feel anxious and need someone to talk to?

We recognize some members of our campus community may be directly affected by the virus without themselves being sick. The news, as well as the uncertainty, can feel unsettling. Some also have concerns regarding family members and friends in other areas who are sick or who are at increased risk.

If you would like to talk with someone, support is available. Please contact the Counseling/Advising office at confidentialcounsel@delta.edu or 989-686-9330 to make an appointment with a counselor or to learn more about counseling resources.

How do I get the latest Delta College information?

Monitor your Delta College email account and sign up for the Emergency Text Notification Service, which is a free service provided by Nixle and administered by Delta College’s Department of Public Safety. We want to make sure you are the first to know of emergency situations or campus closings.

Using your mobile phone, text DELTAEMG to 888777. For more information, visit Safety Services.

What about laboratory, skilled trades, clinicals, studio/performance or current online classes?

The college will not offer laboratories, skilled trades, clinicals and studio performance opportunities at this time. We recognize that some experiences cannot be replicated via remote delivery, and will be working with our faculty leadership to determine the best solution, which may include virtual or simulated experiences and/or extensions.

  • Health program clinical placements including dental assisting, dental hygiene, nursing, physical therapist assistant, respiratory therapy, sonography, radiography, surgical technology, surgical first assistant and sterile processing are temporarily suspended until further notice. This change is due to an emergency order put in place by Governor Whitmer for temporary restrictions on entry into health care facilities, residential care facilities, congregate care facilities and juvenile justice facilities.
  • Each faculty member will be informing students of these changes and how to proceed in your curriculum. The college will contact your health facilities and inform them of Delta's temporary suspension of your clinical rotation.
  • We are hopeful that clinicals will resume in the future upon approval by the Governor and each health care facility. Some local health systems have communicated that it would be appreciated if students in paid externships/internships continue to report to work. Again, check with your faculty member to be sure.

Faculty members in the instructional areas are communicating with each program's accrediting body to develop alternative ways to meet clinical outcomes and objectives. Changes in this regard will be communicated to students within each program.

We are actively identifying alternate ways of meetings course outcomes prior to the end of the winter semester. These changes would also be communicated at the time any future changes are made.
