The Below 100 Program is designed to drastically reduce law enforcement Line of Duty Deaths (LODD's). The Below 100 Program specifically addresses the operational areas of law enforcement that contribute to the greatest number of LODD's, but are in large part preventable. The Below 100 Program is an effort to instill a vulture of safety in law enforcement agencies that will progressively reduce national LODD's to Below 100 annually.

Corrections Training Officer: April 21-25, 2025

The Corrections Training and Evaluating Program is an extension of the corrections selection process. It combines pre-field training with objective evaluations to ensure that the standards of a competent corrections officer are met. This is a 40-hour course designed for experienced corrections officers to learn the "new job/task" of becoming a Corrections Training Officer - CTO. The program will emphasize the CTO's role in Coaching, training, and objectively evaluating the recruit officer as they "earn" the right to wear your department's uniform. Each student will receive a Corrections Training and Evaluation manual for this course.

Discipline & Disciplinary Interviews: March 13-14, 2025

The right to establish work rules and regulations would be meaningless without the right to enforce them The employer could not effectively exercise its right and responsibility to maintain order and efficiency without the power to enforce those rules and regulations through the use of proper disciplinary procedures. Disciplinary investigation is the first step the supervisor must take in determining whether or not an employee has violated a work rule or regulation. It is extremely important to have all  of the facts correct concerning the incident. Documentation of those facts is the key word in labor relations.

Emergency  Vehicle Operation - Pursuit Rate Vehicles:  Oct. 30, 2024, 12-8pm 

This is an eight-hour course that starts with a short classroom update session followed by the remainder of the time spent on the driving range performing "behind the wheel" exercises. This course will cover pursuit rated models of patrol vehicles, exploring the differences between front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and SUV models.

Field Training Officer Seminar: April 14-18, 2025

The Field Training and Evaluating Program is an extension of the law enforcement selection process. F.T.O. Update / Refresher: February 25, 2025

This one-day workshop is designed for the experienced FTOs who have completed a basic Training and Evaluation course. The advanced strategies used in this presentation are designed to maximize the effectiveness of those responsible for teaching and training the new employee.
Participants will have the opportunity to exchange and evaluate ideas, problems and solutions. The program features a minimum of lecture and a maximum of student involvement. While emphasizing the critical role as a Coach, Teacher, Trainer and Mentor.

GLOCK Armorer's Course: December 3, 2024, OR June 17, 2025 OR December 2, 2025

This one day class is to certify officers as GLOCK Armorers.  You will receive a 3 year Certification upon successful completion for all GLOCK model pistols, excluding the G18 Select Fire Models.
Student Prerequisites: To be eligible to take the Armorers Course you must be active/retired law enforcement or military, private security, GLOCK Stocking Dealer/Range Program EMployee or current GSSF Member.
Armorer Course Objectives: Understand and be able to explain the design features of the GLOCK Safe Action System, Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to maintain, troubleshoot and service all GLOCK pistols by passing the Practical Examination and by scoring a minimum of 80% on the written examination.

Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Violence: November 20, 2024

The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) and Delta College presents Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Violence. Managing Police Training:  TBD

This is a two-day course designed for law enforcement instructors and instructor supervisors, tasked with training law enforcement officers. The program's focus will be on the development and implementation of training programs, specifically scenario-based programs that utilize all force options, to best prepare their officers. Students will be taught how to design and compose their own scenarios, that include the necessary minimum components. The program will also discuss implementation of basic and complex training programs, too include but not limited to: Active Shooter Response (ASR), Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO), and Pursuit Termination Techniques (PTT).

PPCT DT Instructor Course: January 13-17, 2025

The PPCT/HFRG Threat Pattern Recognition Use of Force (DT) Instructor Course, is the first subject control system developed through tactical, legal and medical research. Tactically, the system addresses the most common types of resistance that officers may encounter allowing the instructor to maximize training on job related techniques. Legally, the PPCT System teaches a simple use of force continuum that clarifies the appropriate force level for every level of resistance. Medical research was conducted on every PPCT technique to refine technique efficiency and to ensure the medical implications were proportional to the level of resistance.

This curriculum consists of 8 hours of instruction on how to prepare yourself for the Lateral or Promotional process. This course is a MUST for anyone who is preparing for an Oral Interview where they are seeking a lateral transfer or promotion through the ranks from, Officer up to including the position of Chief of Police. PPCT SHARP (Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention)  Instructor Course: January 22-24, 2025

The PPCT Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention (SHARP) course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of women when control methods and assault prevention methods are required. Principles and strategies for effectively reducing the likelihood of assault through actual techniques of countering an attack are stressed in this program. Utilizing efficient and effective methods of subject control that do not rely on size and strength, PPCT had developed a training system that can be used by just about everyone who is interested in personal safety. Topics covered: Effects of Survival Stress on Performance, Instructor Development and Training Protocols, Prevention Psychology,  Principles of Avoidance, Passive Releases and Escapes,Defensive Counter Strikes and Disarming. Shaykhet Edged Weapons Defensive Tactics: April 17, 2025

This training program deals with a practical and simple way for the officer to defend against a subject with the edged weapon. The need for this training became especially clear after the events of September 11, when terrorists took over planes using box cutters, which is basically a small knife. Also, the training shows the officer how the edged weapon can be used in a self-defense situation as an emergency backup weapon when the primary weapon system is not available.

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC): December 5, 2024

This basic level Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course was developed from the military Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training. TECC is adapted to provide non-medical operators with battlefield proven trauma care information and techniques. This training increases the likelihood of survivability for casualties of significant trauma due to hostile action, particularly penetrating trauma. This course has recently been modified and shortened to concentrate on critical information and skills. Written testing is no longer required and the amount of lecture has been reduced significantly. The majority of the course is practical application. Students will be emailed an electronic version of the military TCCC Tactical Combat Casualty Care Handbook to study prior to the course. This course will include a bandaging system as well as a tactical tourniquet that each participant can take back from the class.

2025 Truck Traffic Enforcement Seminar: January 21-23, 2025

This three-day seminar is for all Michigan County Weighmasters, Truck Traffic Law Enforcement Officers and any law enforcement officers involved in general motor vehicle traffic enforcement. This training is designed for truck law enforcers to update their knowledge to properly enforce traffic laws for commercial vehicles including large trucks, tankers, and agricultural transports regarding weight laws, load securement and commercial vehicle registrations. Note: There have been numerous changes in the laws this year in agricultural, size and weight restrictions. A light breakfast starts each day of class and lunch and lunch is included only for the first two days since last half of the third day is off site.

You Don't Have to Die: How to Survive an Ambush:  April 10, 2025

This program presents a practical way of surviving an ambush. The officer will be able to identify the signs of an upcoming ambush, which provides an opportunity to avoid it. The practical application of concepts of baseline, above and below baseline will be addressed. Pre-attack indicators will be explained as well as the importance of movement versus static response and the concept of effective communication will also be discussed.
