Transfer Your Credits

There are several ways to transfer credit in and out of Delta College. Whatever your path, it's really important to work your Success Advisor and the institution you're coming from or going to.

Transfer In

There are three ways you can transfer in credits.

Transfer credit you earned at a different college

Delta College evaluates previously earned college credit students have acquired from colleges or universities that are regionally accredited. If you attended another institution you will need to have your official transcripts sent to Delta’s Registrar’s Office.

To submit transcripts choose one of the following options:

    • Electronic
Delta College accepts secured PDF or Electronic Exchange transcripts via the National Student Clearinghouse , Parchment or directly from your previous institution to registration@delta.edu
    • Mail
Delta College will only accept “official transcripts” mailed directly to the college from the issuing institution. 1961 Delta Rd, University Center, MI 48710, Attn: Records & Registration

*Please note, transcript evaluation may take 2-4 weeks.  You will receive an email to your Delta email when they have been evaluated.

Get credit by exam or evaluation

Delta College offers credit for work you've already completed. Find out more about experience for credit such as Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Credit-by-Portfolio, Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DSST) and more.

High school and technical center articulation

High School and Technical Center Articulation is a process by which students have the opportunity to earn college credits for career and technical courses they took in high school or at a technical center. Delta College partners with high schools and technical centers to create and maintain articulation agreements that outline transferrable coursework to Delta.

Transfer Out

Many students come to Delta College to complete college coursework before transferring to a bachelor degree granting college or university. We have teamed up with nearly all of the private and public institutions in Michigan and created several different tools to make transferring much easier.

Take a class or two as a guest student

Students often take a course or two at Delta to save time and money while working on their degree at another college or university. You can use the Michigan Transfer Network to see how Delta courses may transfer to your school. Always be sure to check with your institution to be sure of transferability.

30 credit transfer agreement

The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA)  is the result of Michigan community colleges and public universities working together to facilitate the transfer of general education requirements from one institution to another. To complete the agreement you will need to apply.

62 credit transfer agreements

Through our Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees we help guide you to the program and university of your dreams. Visit those degree pages and you'll see some of the most popular pathways. It's a great way to start here, take your first two years of courses, save thousands of dollars, then transfer on to complete your bachelor's degree.

Don't see your program on the pathways list in either the AA or AS? No problem. These programs are very customizable. We’ll work with you to figure out the best classes to take at Delta that will transfer to your university of choice. Our advisors are here to help you successfully plan your transfer to virtually an college or university.

The MiTransfer Agreement is another way you can transfer more credits in several areas of studies, making it easier for you to complete essential courses before deciding where to transfer. The MiTransfer Pathways build on the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA). These agreements are within select fields of study.

Plus, because Delta has so many students that transfer on, many of the major universities in the state have created transfer guides specifically for Delta students. Often you can transfer more than 60 credits, making this a cost effective way to earn your bachelor's or master's degree.

Articulation agreements

Articulation agreements show how your coursework at Delta provides the foundation for a bachelor's degree. Delta College has signed over 40 articulation agreements, which allow students a clearer pathway to a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university. These agreements allow greater acceptance of programs and courses and help students maximize their time at Delta before transferring.

Depending on the degree and institution, articulation agreements can be "2 + 2" or "3 + l." In other words, two years taking core classes full-time at the community college and then two years full-time at the university or three years at the community college and one year at the university. But you can complete these plans at a pace that works best for you!

Though most of the agreements are with colleges and universities in Michigan, Delta has some with out-of-state schools as well. Each agreement is unique and may include recommendations for coursework to be completed while enrolled in the associate degree program. Your Success Advisor can help you determine which Delta courses transfer to a specific program based on the articulation agreement.

Don't forget, Delta has a University Transfer Center where some schools maintain offices and others routinely visit, so you can talk directly with other colleges and universities about your plans.
